Personal profile

Biography

I received my Ph.D. from the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) under the supervision of Dr. Min Shi in 2015. I then carried out a postdoctoral position in the Genereux group at the University of California, Riverside (2016–2018), followed by a second postdoctoral position at the University of Arizona with Dr. Thomas Gianetti (2018–2021). After that, I worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Colgate University from 2021-2023. I joined the University of North Florida as an Assistant Professor in fall 2023. My research group mainly focuses on the development of novel organic synthetic methodologies. We are particularly interested in red-light and near-IR photocatalysis due to the intrinsic advantages of low energy, few health risks, few side reactions, and high penetration depth through various media of red light and NIR. We are also interested in asymmetric catalysis due to the significance of chiral molecules. We also target the construction of complex organic compounds with spiro-indole and indole-fused polycycle scaffolds due to their great potential for biological applications.
