Biography

Raine Osborne, PT, DPT, EdD, FAAOMPT is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of North Florida (UNF) and Director of the UNF Center for Promotion of Innovation and Excellence in Rehabilitation (PIER). He is also a member of the Brooks Institute of Higher Learning Residency and Fellowship Program faculty. Dr. Osborne been a physical therapist educator for over 15 years, providing instruction and mentorship across the physical therapist education continuum (DPT, residency, and fellowship). Dr. Osborne currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Physical Therapy Education and is the chair of the APTA Academy of Education Residency and Fellowship Research Collaborative. As a researcher, Dr. Osborne's primary interest is in ecosystems that drive innovation and excellence in rehabilitation practice. Areas of focus within this research agenda include personal characteristics of physical therapist learners (e.g., motivation, professional engagement, and adaptive expertise), attributes of the learning environment within in healthcare organizations (e.g., communities of practice, learning-centered organization culture, and interprofessional collaboration), and how these factors interact to ultimately improve patient outcomes.
