Biography

Dr. Shaqwana Freeman-Green, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum (TLC) at the University of North Florida. She earned her doctorate in special education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has over 15 years of experience in working with adolescents with disabilities and their families. Her research and practice focus on teacher preparation and empirically based teaching and learning strategies to support students with high-incidence disabilities. Specifically, her research focuses on academic supports in urban settings for individuals with learning disabilities and the innovative use of technology and culturally sustaining practices to address the research-to-practice gap in special education. 

 

Additionally, Dr. Freeman-Green is the Chairperson for the Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CLD) committee for the Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) through the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and  one of the coeditors for the journal TEACHING Exceptional Children.
