Abstract

Raman scattering (RS) of light is used to investigate the behavior of the oxygen modes in YBa2Cu3O7−x crystals as a function of exciting radiation power and of temperature. The excitation spectra of these modes are measured. To explain the behavior of the investigated modes it is proposed that the bridging (apex) oxygen ion O4 is located in an anharmonic two-well potential.
