Abstract
Raman spectroscopy was used to investigate the behavior of oxygen vibration modes in YBa2Cu3O(7-x) crystals with values of x varying between 0 and 1 as a function of temperature and the exciting radiation power. It was found that crystals where the value of x was less than 1 (e.g., YBa2Cu3O6.5) exhibited a two-phonon Raman scattering. To explain the behavior of the modes investigated, a bridging O4 oxygen ion is suggested to be a two-well anharmonic potential.
