Abstract
Background and Purpose:
Literature shows that there is a great inter-relationship between posture and mandible position. The present study aimed to verify the occlusal contact in patients before and after physiotherapeutic treatment of global posture reeducation.
Method:
In this pilot study, subjects of both genders participated as volunteers, averaging 25.4 years old. The volunteers were submitted to a postural assessment based on the Global Posture Reeducation concepts, followed by the occlusal assessment to determine the contact points in each hemi-arch. Then, Glob-al Posture Re-education was performed for 30 minutes, with the objective of improving head-shoulder posture and to re-educate the patient to position him/herself to the physiological pattern. The postural and occlusal contact points assessments were performed again immediately after this procedure.
Results: It is possible to observe a decrease in occlusal contact points in all volunteers.
Conclusion: There was an occlusal contact alteration with the physiotherapeutic treatment using Global Posture Re-education applied on the studied subjects. The alteration observed was de-crease in occlusal contact points at the end of treatment.
