Abstract
Electronic tools and electronic educational platforms have been instrumental in facilitating content delivery both inside and outside the classroom. Advances in content delivery provide faculty with an assortment of delivery approaches. There is a growing debate as to whether students are best served by using class time to primarily deliver course content. Flipping the classroom is a learning approach where much of the content delivery is moved outside of the classroom and in-class activities are developed to optimize student time with the instructor. Proper incentives are instrumental in encouraging students to come to class prepared to participate in classroom activities. In-class activities of a Flipped Classroom focus on adding relevance to the course content utilizing the higher order cognitive processes of application, analysis, synthesis, and/or evaluation. This session highlights how a Flipped Classroom can be utilized to engage students both in and out of the classroom.
