Abstract
Kamelion was commissioned by Black Swamp Percussion and written for the 20th anniversary of their Multisonic snare drum. This versatile drum comes equipped with a 5-snare unit strainer, customizable for multiple musical applications.
Kamelion opens with a lyrical theme (inspired by a melodic melody) which is the basis for variations, and is transformed continually into different musical colors. Each variation utilizes a different stylistic approach common in solo snare drum genres, and is also intended to highlight distinct timbral configurations generated by different snare combinations.
