Abstract

In this presentation, academic librarians will explore their roles within unions and the impact of union work on their profession. The panelists, representing diverse institutions across the United States, will discuss how unions have improved their working conditions by securing fair wages, benefits, and job security. Engagement in union work also fosters networking, personal growth, and a culture of collaboration. They will then address challenges such as anti-union laws affecting mental health. The presentation aims to connect union activism with academic librarianship, emphasizing the tangible benefits of union work.
