Sarah Moukhliss, a librarian with a background in K-12 library curriculum, instructional design, and pedagogy noted that there was a gap in standards when designing student-centric library guides at her university. Although there are vetted standards for online course design, there are a less structured roadmap for designing library guides with pedagogical value. Moukhliss remixed the SUNY Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR) to become the Library Guide Assessment Standards for Quality Checked Review (LGAS). The LGAS was announced in the American Libraries Newsletter, ALA Direct, through the ALA website, and referenced in the ACRL Instruction Section, Fall 2024.
