About
Dr. Hsu's research is focused on understanding the impacts of climate change on coastal storms and key water level components, such as storm surge and wave runup, particularly during extreme weather events. His work leverages advanced numerical modeling techniques and the analysis of re-analyzed observational data. Currently, Dr. Hsu is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Florida, where he teaches Hydraulic Engineering (CWR-4202C) and Numerical Methods and Computing (CWR-3561).
Dr. Hsu's research interests include coastal resilience, coastal morphodynamics, nearshore hydrodynamics, climate change, and tropical cyclones. His professional experience includes serving as a Coastal Engineer at INTERA Incorporated, where he worked on hydraulic analysis and bridge scour projects. Before joining the academic community in the United States, Dr. Hsu was a research assistant at National Taiwan University, focusing on hydrological data collection and mangrove biomass estimation in wetlands.
In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Hsu serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Coastal Research.
