Dr. Erin Bennett is Keyboard Area Coordinator and Associate Professor of Piano and Pedagogy at University of North Florida, where she teaches Applied and Class Piano, Piano Pedagogy, and Chamber Music. During her summers she serves on the faculty at Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan and at the Beaujolais Music Workshop in France.
Prior to her appointment, Dr. Bennett served as the Interim Coordinator of Secondary Piano and Piano Pedagogy at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she also taught piano through the University of Cincinnati's Communiversity program. She has maintained private piano studios in Florida, Ohio, and Texas, and served as an adjunct instructor at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
As a performer, Dr. Bennett has appeared throughout the U.S. and across Europe. As a member of the trio Serafini Brillanti, she performed on tour across America and in France, and recorded a CD featuring works by living composers written for the soprano-trumpet-piano trio. As a soloist she has performed with the University of North Florida Orchestra, the UNF Wind Symphony, the University of Florida Symphony Orchestra and in collaboration with members of the Oregon Mozart Players.
In demand as an adjudicator and clinician, Dr. Bennett has presented on several occasions at the annual conference of Music Teachers National Association and the National Conference for Keyboard Pedagogy, as well as at the Group Piano and Piano Pedagogy National Forum. Her students have presented independently and collectively at the MTNA national conference, at several MTNA Collegiate Chapters Piano Pedagogy Symposia, and at the annual conference of the Florida Music Teachers Association. Dr. Bennett holds teaching certification from both Music Teachers National Association and the Royal Conservatory of Music. Her research has been published in Clavier Companion (now The Piano Magazine) and American Music Teacher.
Dr. Bennett received degrees in piano performance from Rice University, the University of Florida, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she pursued dual cognates in music history and piano pedagogy. Her principal teachers have included Eugene and Elisabeth Pridonoff, Robert Roux, Michelle Conda, Boaz Sharon, and Virgina Hawley Buhn.
