Biography
My lab investigates the organization and consequences of social interaction and behavior in complex environments. We seek to understand why individuals differ in their social interactions, how such differences develop, how these differences influence (or are influenced by) the organization of the group, and the implications of these processes for animal welfare. A major focus of our research is quantifying how individuals experience and construct their social environments by observing social interaction across different levels: from measuring developmental changes in the moment-to-moment behavioral patterns used during interactions, to uncovering how individuals collectively shape the structure and stability of group social networks.
