Biography

I am an Associate Professor and Prelicensure Program Director for UNF School of Nursing.  I received my BSN from UNF via the RN to BSN program; both my master's and doctoral degrees are from the University of Florida.  I am an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) specializing in pediatrics.  I have been a practicing pediatric nurse practitioner and an active member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) for over 26 years.  I am also an active member of the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) and earned my CRNI® (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) certification in 1989.  I maintain active memberships in several other professional organizations including Florida Nurses Association, Association for Vascular Access, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. I serve on the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), a standing community council to the Duval County School Board.  I served as the Chair for the SHAC Health Services Subcommittee for many years.  I am also a member of the Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) for Lutheran Services of Florida – Head Start – Duval County.  My involvement with SHAC has afforded me the opportunity to increase my knowledge of the community’s health care needs and concerns especially those of the children attending public schools in Duval County.  I am passionate about school nursing and have been involved with several research studies related to school nurses and student outcomes.  Most currently, my research involves a community health initiative through Lutheran Services.
