About
Dr. Nissim is a cognitive neuroscientist with research expertise in neuromodulation using noninvasvive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques to enhance cognition. Her research explores the effects of NIBS on brain function and behavior in healthy adults and patient populations with cognitive impairment. She has primarily worked with transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)—NIBS techniques that alter the brain’s neuroplasticity—to improve cognitive and memory function. Dr. Nissim has extensive experience in structural and fMRI neuroimaging, neuropsychological assessments, and various statistical techniques. Her research interests include understanding the impact of brain stimulation on brain function involved in cognition and memory and how stimulation-induced changes relate to behavioral performance on cognitive tasks. She is also interested in identifying and optimizing brain stimulation protocols that combine cognitive training interventions in the aging population and individuals with mild cognitive impairment.
