Biography

Samantha Brown is a first-generation college student from small-town Wisconsin who has since settled into big-city academic life at UNF in Jacksonville. Her research interests include juvenile delinquency, responses from the juvenile justice system, and long-term effects of system involvement; school-based crime and the responses of school-based actors to youth in need; the role that social media in the onset and maintenance of delinquency, as well as how social media can be used to address or respond to crime; and policing practices, as well as the effects of those practices. Her work uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to examine these topics.
