Zhigang (Shay) Xie serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at the University of North Florida (UNF). He possesses a strong background in health services research, along with extensive expertise in survey design and the analysis of extensive medical claims data. His primary research area centers on healthcare policy, quality, cost, and access, with a particular focus on addressing health and healthcare disparities among underserved populations.
Before his tenure at UNF, Zhigang spent many years working with large international nonprofit organizations, where he collaborated with underserved communities, including low-income individuals, migrant workers, female sex workers, men who have sex with men, and injecting drug users. In this capacity, he played a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating community-based health interventions. These projects received funding from a variety of governmental and private foundations, such as USAID, UK Aid Direct, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
