Resumen
The idea of “social responsibility” is generally based on the principle that companies should contribute to the welfare of society and not be solely concerned with making a profit. But while this concept is often associated with business practices, we must remember that it is people who run businesses; therefore, social responsibility begins with people. According to the consulting firm Business for Social Responsibility, corporate social responsibility strengthens corporate accountability, helps improve quality and opportunities of life, empowers people, and is an investment in communities. “The production, distribution, and sale of food and beverage products affect global sustainability issues, ranging from access to water and workers' rights to hunger, poverty, and health and wellness” 1
