Resumen

In an attempt to better understand the possible benefits of developing preprofessional student organizations and advisory boards a survey consisting of open and closed end items was designed by the researchers and was reviewed by professionals in the field for reliability. Results from this survey and an examination of the literature reveal the benefits of both majors' clubs and advisory boards. Although these benefits have been recognized, there is still more research needed to confirm their effectiveness as it relates to the time and extended workload often required by faculty members. The data collected for this paper will provide guidance for faculty and students that are considering starting a student majors' club or an advisory board.
