Resumen

Editing the Eartha M.M. White Collection is a digital public history project at the University of North Florida (UNF). Started as a summer digital editing course in 2016, the project has since developed into an ongoing experiment in digital humanities outreach and community building through periodic textual editing workshops involving archival materials. Project participants transcribe and prepare for online publication (using TEI–XML) the personal correspondence and other documents of Eartha M.M. White (1876–1974), a leader of the African American community in Jacksonville, Florida. The project enables the university community to engage with the intersection of technology and the humanities, while also increasing the public's access to a highly valued collection. In this roundtable presentation, we will examine Editing the Eartha M.M. White Collection as a model for collaboration between undergraduate students, library faculty, and teaching faculty.
