Resumen
Teacher turnover is a chronic problem in the United States. One of the most significant reasons is the difficulty in maintaining work–life balance (Sutcher, Darling-Hammond, & Carver Thomas, 2016). Negative working conditions and constant tension between work and other life responsibilities negatively affect teacher retention (Day & Gu, 2010). In contrast, happiness in the workplace promotes success. Happy employees who reflect on their successes are more engaged and passionate about their work. Teachers should leverage happiness, joy, and celebrations of their influence on students to establish work–life balance. Teachers who embrace these qualities are less likely to leave their jobs (Hong, 2012; Simon & Johnson, 2015).
